Option 1
Write a sci-fi narrative.
Remember that in a sci-fi text, characters are usually very confused, anxious and fearful. There is something unfamiliar, unknown or mysterious in the setting. Try to create a sense of dystopia and entrapment.
Clue: to ensure that you are getting the best grade possible, keep the plot simple with a few actions and a few characters. This will give you room to showcase your vocabulary and describe each action in detail.
Option 2
Write an imaginative text which is inspired by the following image. Craft your writing by using figurative language techniques such as metaphors, similes, hyperboles and imagery.

Red sun in the sky
The sun glares onto the tree. The iron rattles as the slow and calm wind blows on the cage. A small bird looks into the horizon. He sees the cage and flys over to it. Landing gracefully beside it, he opens the door and leaves again. The bird flutters to a stack of hay and takes some to put in the cage. He gently drops it in and flys away for more. Another bird flies by and sits in the cage. The other bird flies back and drops the sticks in.
Option 3
Write a story inspired by the image below. Ensure that you have a clear structure, and that you are using sufficient techniques to engage your reader.

Locked Out
I budge on my front door, thrusting my body against the door. I'm greeted by my idiocy and insanity as I think to myself how stupid I am to lock myself out. Thinking about what I have done, I resist calling a locksmith as doing that I will crumble financially like sandcastles at the beach. I called my friend with no response. Looking at myself I decide to lockpick my own front door until I realise… It’s the middle of the night and all stores are closed. I frustratingly sit outside my front door looking like a homeless person camping outside of a convenience store. I wake up all of a sudden to a group of people staring at my foolish self, as if I was a horrifying beast. Then I hear sirens outside blaring louder than a helicopter landing. Apparently, some people thought I was actually a homeless person and that I was trespassing. The door opens, a frail old lady gasps at the sight of me. Turns out I went to the wrong house.
