“Here’s some soup.”
I gently took a sip, but the amalgamation was bland and terribly cold. It wasn’t the best at fulfilling my appetite and I felt a craving for something warm. Yet, not wanting to upset my mum, I chugged it down.

Dashing upstairs like the Flash, I slumped down like a lazy panda and picked up my girlfriend’s call enthusiastically. We chatted extensively and exuberantly about about our different cultural backgrounds, rambling on and on about favourite hometown cuisines. When I told her about the bland soup, she suggested the aromatic addition of chilli and pepper,
Later, during a multicultural group call, we exclaimed in joy as our unique strengths came together to dominate video games and translate different instructions. When one of us ran out of time, the others had their back. The power of our teamwork zapped me in an odd way and befuddled me.
A few days later, it was Harmony Day. I basked in the scorching sun watching the colourful parades. I was mesmerised by the rainbows of exuberant celebration. I smiled from ear to ear, and a small fire lit up inside me. It struck me. Cultures are important! It is what brings us together and makes society flourish.
Back home I peacefully cooked up some warm soup with a speck of pepper and hint of chilli.
“Yum,” Mum licked her lips.
