Fairytales Ever After

They took us to sleep, they opened our imagination and they transported us into our own little world. Fairy tales have been one of the most important types of texts we have read within our lives. Fairy tales have been read by our fathers, mothers, grandmas and grandpas, retaining their relevance and charm throughout generations. Fairy tales raise questions about good and evil when we are young; exemplifying good virtues like perseverance, honesty and persistence.

Firstly, fairy tales build our imagination. Fairy tales have unrealistic and a large array of ideas which catch young children’s attention and it introduces them to the world. For example, in the Three Little Pigs, three pigs are shown living in a straw house, wood house and brick house which then is attacked by a wolf. This concept is extremely unrealistic but it teaches engineering and architecture creatively and humourously. Therefore, fairy tales construct a kid's imagination, and introduce them to new possibilities and adventures.

Secondly, fairy tales teach children about the world and to embrace morals. Fairy tales place characters in difficult dilemmas, in which they need to make important choices and learn from their mistakes. They also show how characters progress through perilous times. For example, in the Little Red Riding Hood, the girl must decide whether she should trust the wolf or not. In the end, she made a mistake in trusting the wolf which resulted in her grandma being eaten. In turn, fairy tales place children into different characters’ shoes, thus building faster thinking and decision making skills.

Finally, fairy tales teach children about mental strengths and emotions which we must maintain throughout our life. For example, Cinderella teaches us to remain kind and persevere in tough circumstances. Meanwhile in Tangled, the characters Rapunzel and Flynn overcome their fears and step out of their comfort zone to achieve what they want. Courage, bravery and honesty are virtues enhanced by fairytales that will push children to greatness and success. 

In conclusion, fairy tales are incredibly important as they teach young children how to thrive, learn and adapt throughout their lives. Fairytales survive the test of time as they reiterate important morals and its inspirational characters encourage mental fortitude. Fairytales allow children to grow their imagination, thus bringing hope, adventure and happiness into their lives.
