Never Too Small

Individuality is highly important.
The young activist Greta Thunberg once quoted, ‘you are never too small to make a difference’. This quote will always resonate with me. Unlike everyone else, the very young Greta participates in protests fighting against climate change, instead of following the social norm.
You don’t have to act or speak a certain way to make a difference in the world. You shouldn’t feel judged for being who you are which most people face everyday. You can make a difference now, regardless of your size and race.

The majority of the people I know feel pressured to act in a specific way in order to fit in with everyone else . Whether it be playing a sport, picking a subject or listening to music, people shouldn’t have to pretend to have others’ passions and aspirations. People don’t allow themselves to express their ‘true’ self by pretending to be someone else to others, eventually causing them to feel isolated, deprived and dishonest.
Individuals can also feel dejected by not being themselves. Embracing ourselves and the way we are is essential for our happiness in life. Hiding or changing who we are just to fit someone else's standards can cause us to lose our sense of self worth. Our self esteems plummet and insecurities rise. By accepting our real selves we can convey who we really are and can bring out new experiences such as meeting new people and attempting different things we would’ve never chosen to try before.
More people need to start realising that it is okay to be dissimilar to everyone else around them. Being unique is actually better than being the same as it helps you express yourself easily to others. Being different is what makes you, you. Differences are what make life enjoyable as it makes us more creative and hard working.
Individuality is extremely important in life. Without individuality, everyone would speak, think, look and act identical to each other. Nobody should have to pretend to be like someone else just to fit in.
