Jade had spent all her life in the picturesque town of Wiston. She lost count of how many times she sat on the rugged cliff listening to the sea gently crash onto the sand. It was an activity which brought calamity and serenity to her even during miserable days. Little did she know, an ominous storm would soon unfold, changing her fate forever.

One winter evening, the power lines were wrecked by a violent storm. Unyielding and unpredictable in its directions, it rattled windows, and howled through the peaceful streets. The rain lashed against the cobblestones, before reflecting the tempestuous, cursed sky.
Soon, the swelling river breached its banks, engulfing the once peaceful village in its turbulent embrace. Homes were inundated, and streets turned into waterways. Jade woke up from her cosy bed, staring outside the window. The villagers gathered outside, their faces pale and full of sorrow. Their silhouettes huddled together in the rain-soaked mist.
The wrath of nature unleashed a terrible thunder. The churning sea had overflown, and the icy sea gripped and tore the infrastructure of the town. Driven by an inexplicable force, Jade waded around with the water swirling around her until she found an old boat that had washed ashore.
Jade rowed through the flooded streets. The town she had spent her entire life in had been wrecked by the storm. Carrying an ember of hope, Jade joined the other villagers, in braving against the treacherous currents.
