Energy Drinks

One in five students consume energy drinks presuming that they are 'good'. In reality, energy drinks such as Monster or Redbull deteriorate physical and mental health.


Whilst it is the consumer's responsibility to manage their daily intake, companies confuse consumers with the overflowing advertisement of energy drinks. Initiatives are urgently needed to correct these misconceptions in young people, before it takes a terrible toll.


Oblivious to the detrimental impacts of energy drinks, parents willingly buy it for their children. After consuming high quantities of sugar and caffeine energy drinks, physical conditions such as headaches, stomach aches insomnia and more. For these reasons, students should start being more prudent on what they consume.

Energy drinks can also exacerbate one's mental health as it fills people with adrenaline. This may not sound terrible but it can drive people to partake in high - risk activities such as smoking. It is the people's decision on how many drinks they want to consume in a day.

However, branding misguided many. Sponsors like Formula One can influence young people to be like them, putting their lives at risk. It becomes problematic when professional athletes who many adolescents look up to also support these addictive drinks.


Initiatives need to be established so children and students perceive the negative impacts of energy drinks. It is imperative for parents to start limiting the intake of caffeinated drinks from their precious children.
