Dear Prime Minister Anthony Albaneesse,
I am Leon, a year 5 student who is saddened by how Mother Earth is dying from our exhaustion of precious finite resources. I am writing to you to urge you to inspire the community to stop driving so often and start walking. The fantastic flora and fauna that inhabit this planet are suffering from our wasteful actions. The gas and smoke from cars travels up and up to cause climate change. We must rectify our actions to be eco- friendly and inspire people to stop driving a car and start walking around.
Firstly, the emissions from cars cause hazardous effects to the environment or our health. The ozone layer which is really important to trap the heat from the sun. Toxic emissions from vehicles cause depletion of the ozone layer, which causes more UVB rays to penetrate the earth, and harm our skin. Moreover, the gas and smoke from cars travels up to trap more heat. This causes a gradual increase in temperatures, otherwise known as global warming.
Secondly, fuel is a finite, precious and expensive resource so it is important to reduce our usage. Unfortunately, according to scientists, every kilometer you travel the amount of smoke is equivalent to three bundles of bananas. Sacrifice moments of inconvenience to preserve the future’s eco-friendly environment. I urge you to take action to conserve this gorgeous greenery.
Thirdly, walking is beneficial for our health as opposed to driving a car. Sitting in a car is a form of very sedentary behavior, which is detrimental to our cardiovascular health. This can lead to increased rates of obesity. In contrast, walking is an excellent physical activity that builds your leg muscles and calms the mind. Hence, walking is the superior transportation method for everyone.
In conclusion, walking is the superior alternative to driving. The emissions from cars cause hazardous effects to the environment or our health. Fuel is a finite, precious and expensive resource so it is important to reduce our usage. Walking is excellent for our physical and mental health.
Looking forward to hearing from you and good luck with the next election.
Yours sincerely,
Leon
