The population of our little African penguins is plummeting due to environmental pressures and this is a massive concern. This is why a variety of zoos are preserving and taking care of the penguins. Our penguins must be kept safe so this is an advantageous idea!

Firstly, in the wild African penguins are left with a lack of food which causes malnutrition and starvation. Overfishing is depleting their food sources, causing our precious penguins to starve. As a result, the penguins may have weakened physical development and are unable to survive the harsh climates. Within the safety of our zoos, they will be fed constantly with adequate nutrients and vitamins thus protecting the population.
Secondly, zoos seclude African penguins from vicious predators for breeding to prevent their extinction and endangerment. In the wild, a vast array of animals hunt penguins as part of survival of the fittest. The comfort of zoos can let them rest and reproduce in a nurturing environment away from harm.
Finally, the penguins get instant medication and quality veterinary care inside zoos. Contrastingly, in the wild, many penguins are dying from deadly diseases, without any control or prevention of spread. However, inside zoos, they receive abundant rest and adequate medicine for efficient recovery from illnesses. Zoos even have the capacity to take care of penguins with chronic conditions. For instance, penguins with poor spinal conditions receive pain medication, physical therapy and acupuncture.
In conclusion, it is imperative for our precious penguins to stay at zoos. Zoos being clean, safe and filled with helpful and professional staff. There is absolutely no reason they shouldn’t be kept there!
