Recently, fast food has become a notable part of people’s diets, including school cafeterias. Whilst it may taste good temporarily, excess consumption can induce numerous health issues such as diabetes, digestive issues, obesity and energy drainage. Serving fast food at the cafeteria negatively impacts the physical and mental health of young and growing students. It needs to be banned in school cafeterias.

Eating fast food everyday can cause serious health problems such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, digestive problems and much more. Eating fast food everyday during childhood and adolescence are immensely concerning. During the crucial stages of adolescent, consuming fast food has severe repercussions on brain development, bone growth and problem solving skills. Instead, students should be having a balanced diet everyday consisting of at least one fruit and vegetable, protein, carbs and a snack.
Eating fast food can also lead to mental health deterioration and increase the risk to mood swings. It can cause your blood sugars to fluctuate, in some cases trigger panic attacks, insomnia and symptoms leading to anxiety. The sugar in processed food can irritate your body and brain which can contribute to sudden mood changes and energy drainage. All of this can affect the way students act in school which is why fast food should be banned in school cafeterias.
Fast food has become a large part of students' diets these days. Whilst it might satisfy you in the moment, it can cause devastating long-term health and mindset problems. As students are still young and growing, this can be tremendously detrimental in the future. Processed foods can lead to complications such as diabetes and digestive problems, obesity, energy drainage and more.
