Stuck in a Box

Updated: Jun 17, 2023

When was the last time you were ostracised and excluded? If you were, you may have had the unfortunate experience of being bullied. Many victims of bullying couldn't face the stigma to tell others about it. The relentless and unbearable online bullying may have felt like mighty walls, making them afraid to reach out for help. Subsequently, the victims become trapped inside a box from the outside world. No one wants in and no one can get out.

Are the victims really the ones stuck in the box? I think differently. They might not know it, but it is the bully who is really trapped inside the box. This box is made from their own arrogance, sealing them off from the opportunity to acquire new skills and form meaningful social interactions. No one wants in and no one can get out.

Perhaps, the angry bull thought they got away with humiliating the poor lamb. They might even chuckle in pride. However, in reality, the walls of the box thicken, as their hubris grows. Just like how practising good habits makes them permanent, practising bad habits makes them permanent too. No one wants in and no one can get out.

Sooner or later, these angry bulls need to calm down. They need to find a way out of their own box. Otherwise, it won't take long until their own arrogance mocks them. No one wants in and no one can get out.

Let's act now. It's time for a shake up. It's time to jump out of the dark box and speak up. The world beyond the box is bright and hopeful. Let the walls around us come down so we can be more authentic and respectful.
